Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to water systems, according to city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was killed in a separate assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Russian forces has increased attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while officials has requested "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and implementing penalties," mentioned in a online statement.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 projectiles struck the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy died and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the territory, portions of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The entire country is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the country's energy grid, with attacks already disrupting gas facilities.

He said energy workers and government agencies were anticipating more assaults.
