It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
